Sequences (automations)

A sequence sends a series of emails on a schedule to each person who enters it. Use it for a welcome series, an email course or onboarding.

Create one

  1. Dashboard → Newsletters → Sequences → New sequence.
  2. Pick the newsletter and what starts it: - someone subscribes — every new subscriber (after double opt-in, if it is on), or - a tag is added — e.g. add the tag course through the API or a form to enrol someone.
  3. Write each email (Markdown, {{first_name}} personalises) and set its wait: minutes, hours or days after the previous email (the first email's wait counts from when they start).
  4. Switch on. Tick Also start it for current subscribers to include people who are already on the list.

How it behaves

  • Each person goes through a sequence once.
  • People who unsubscribe, bounce or complain leave the sequence immediately.
  • Imported contacts never start a sequence automatically — no surprise emails to a list you just moved in. Use Also start it for current subscribers if you want them in.
  • Pausing a sequence holds everyone where they are; switching it back on continues.
  • Every sequence email carries one-click unsubscribe and your postal address, like broadcasts.
  • Sequence emails count toward your monthly emails like any other email.

The Free plan includes two sequences; paid plans include as many as you need.
